doily lace collar deux: do it yourself
November 22, 2011 § 22 Comments
see? i kept good on my word that i’d be doing more collar tutorials. based on my first version seen here, i wanted to keep with the lace doily idea, but this time using two of them. and again, this tutorial requires zero sewing skills. in my humble opinion,
i find that diys can sometimes be a bit complicated, therefore i like to try and keep mine sublimely simple. here is a super simple collar that can be mastered in matters of minutes!
to do:
1. begin by folding both doilies in half. gently press with an iron if desired.
2. next, with a little piece of the hemp twine, connect two ends of the doilies together and tie with a bow.
3. continue with the colored ribbons and tie little bows connecting the front half of the doily through the back half.
4. lastly, with a pair of pliers, slightly squeeze the end hooks of the bungee cord to close tighter {if needed} and hook each end onto each end of the two doilies.
5. attach tiny antique brooches for extra flair! {as in the movie office space}
6. you’re done!!

This looks so fab Kristina & I love the little bug you’ve pinned to the collar! Happy Tuesday my friend xoxo

So creative – and I am seriously wishing my grandmother was still alive so we could attack the many doilies she used to have around her home. What a great post :-)

What a lovely necklace! It is so unique! How did you decide with the choice of colors? It is so feminine and very fresh looking..is there any sewing involved? I might give it a try because I have a couple of black ones. By the way, I am in love with all your necklaces. I know you had a site for all your necklaces…is that still current? The reason being that my girlfriend had ordered a couple of designs from you and everyone raves about them. Please let me know where I can purchase your necklaces…Have a great Weekend, Kristina!
Ooh, this doily collar is my favorite thus far, Kristina! Whether it’s the simplicity or the brooch that makes it a winner, I’m not sure, but I think it might actually be the length and the double collar that I love so much. Your creations are always so inspiring, and your comments make me smile daily. Thank you for being you, my darling friend! :) -Jennifer
