love marion cotillard as both an actress + a style icon. her simple navy dress with the design detail in the back paired with the natural pumps = flawlessness.

by john hughes and one of my favorite movies. i love finding style inspiration from film, especially the older ones. my excitement is the same as when i stumble across the anonymity of a hidden gem in an antique store, because it’s not so in-your-face-out-there. molly ringwald’s bridesmaid ensemble equals simple florals + baby’s breath against a perfect pink gown.

i really and truly cannot get enough of this short film. the cinematography, the colors, the sequins, the patterns, it’s all just too much. jenna lyons j.crew’s creative director, discusses her love of shoes and how she’s not worn many of the ones that she owns but likes to look at them. i too have suffered from this affliction but have taken steps to get a handle on the situation. i am not cured completely but you know what they say, once a shoeaholic, always a shoeaholic.

this movie is like a walk down memory lane for me because i’m a 90′s kid. it’s one of the most inspiring films of my generation with regards to fashion i think. and i love amy heckerling’s style in the way that she writes and directs. other great films by heckerling include fast times at ridgemont high, european vacation and look who’s talking, all of which i also love!

there’s something about this photo that intrigues me. i love when actors smoke,
eat and drink wine in quaint cafes. i also love the name melanie laurent, my sister’s name is melanie. well i guess these are just a couple of reasons.

was a teen comedy-drama on the WB network. it is said to be a precursor to glee, which was also created by ryan murphy. i loved this show. the writing, the set design, the fashions, the camera work, the lighting, all of it was very creative. unfortunately, it only ran for two consecutive seasons from 1999 – 2001. i did have the pleasure of meeting leslie bibb {who starred as the lead, brooke mcqueen} at a coffee shop in San Francisco. so sweet and personable, she looked the same in real person as she does on screen. also, accompanying her was sam rockwell who appeared in iron man 2.

play misty for me 1971
July 5, 2011 § 17 Comments
my dad originally introduced me to this film directed by clint eastwood. it takes place in carmel, ca. – an artistically picturesque town set by the pacific ocean that’s lined with art galleries and upscale boutiques. {eastwood was a former mayor of carmel}. evelyn draper {jessica walter} plays the dementedly obsessed fan of dave garver {eastwood}, a disc-jockey of a local radio station. i love the 1970′s fashion in this film – the wide-legged pants, tassel-trimmed ponchos, cross-body purses; and the interior design display of brown leather couches, big lamps and natural materials. there’s even a scene that takes place at the monterey jazz festival, you feel as though you’re really there, which is nice because this film always makes me miss california.
