half moon glitter manicure: how to

halfmoonglitter

love it or hate it, this trend looks to be sticking around for quite a little while. i’m going to pair the glitter with nude next time, understated-glitzy is a good name for it i think.

you will need:
• a good high-density glitter polish in silver
• a nail polish is a pretty pastel color {i used revlon 211 charming}
• half moon manicure sticker adhesives
• a shiny clear top coat

instructions:
1. trim and buff nails
2. apply the sticker adhesives to the base of each nail following the natural half moon shape
3. apply a few coats of the glitter polish onto the exposed half moon shape area only
4. allow to dry completely
5. gently remove the sticker adhesives from the nails
6. apply a few coats of the pastel polish to each nail, starting where the glitter line ends
7. allow to dry completely
8. apply the top coat to seal in, protect and add shine

and there you have it, pretty pastel + glitter nails = a perfect spring 2013 manicure! xoxo

the fact that i’ve never taken an interest in the half moon mani is beyond me, but that has all changed as it’s now one of my favorites!

do you guys remember those heart link patterns that we used to draw back in grade school? you know, the right-side-up heart, right-side-down heart, and so forth? well since valentine’s day is fast-approaching, i thought that i create a fun little nail design inspired by those little heart sketches! so simple, so easy right? <3 <3 <3

when i saw this adorable mani tutorial on into the gloss, i fell in love and had to do it! read on for the simple steps below!

you will need:
1. base coat color – i used revlon red
2. white nail art pen – i used sally hansen
3. black nail art pen – sally again
4. clear high gloss top coat

to do:
1. apply your base coat to all of your nails + allow to dry completely.
2. next, on one of your thumb nails, using the white pen, paint the tip of the nail as you would for a french manicure. you will need to really dab it on a few times to ensure a nice opaque coat. allow to dry.
3. carefully paint the little lines {shoe laces} with the white pen and allow to dry.
4. now with the black pen, dab on the dots {shoe lace holes} as well as a black line on top of the white tip, following the white tip contour line. allow to dry completely.
5. apply clear top coat to seal in color.
super cute right?!

silver jewelry + white nails

April 3, 2012 § 22 Comments

obsessed with white nails right now. and they go perfectly with silver accessories. the only thing that could make this combo any more perfect would be sun-kissed skin, but i’ll have to wait on that one for a bit i guess.

color block nails: do it yourself

November 7, 2011 § 31 Comments

another great trend = color blocking. the inspiration for this manicure was mainly from the american apparel leather pouches with the neon paint strip at the bottom, of which i’ve seen quite a few variations circulating. and i am particularly fond of the neutral + neon color combo hence the reason for this tutorial. i hope you like it!
